THE NAME
According to the Greek Mythology, Thassos was discovered on the occasion of one of the many love adventures of Zeus. When Zeus, abducted Europe, the daughter of king Aginor, the latter asked his grandson Thassos to search for her. During his search, Thassos found himself on the island. Fascinated by the incomparable beauty of it and not being able to return without Europe, he decided to settle permanently and give it his name.

SIZE
Thassos is the northernmost Greek island and the 12th in size. On its 379 sq. km surface there are 22 villages, both coastal and mountainous. The island is inhabited by 15.000 residents.

LIMENAS, THE CAPITAL
Also known as Thassos Town, Limenas is the administrative capital of the island. It is the largest populated town with 3234 inhabitants.

ECONOMY
Tourism is the largest industry of the island followed by the internationally established Pure White marble, the awarded Thassian olive oil and the top quality pine and thyme honey.

CLIMATE
Thassos in spring is a wonderful feast of colors, smells and bird songs while summers are sunny and dry but not very hot thanks to the island’s slightly higher latitude.

NATURE
Thassos belongs to the group of Greek islands that combine both an amazing coastline as well as a great variety of mountain morfology. Vast pine forests, meadows full of herbs and wild flowers and an abundance of fresh fish are among the treasures that Thassos is gifted with.

The Suite
The Suite is LUNAR’s largest apartment. It provides complete accommodation autonomy for 6 adults or 4 adults and 2 children. A spacious, well-equipped kitchen, plenty of storage space, cooling from 2 air conditioners and a large balcony are its main features. Its wonderful view includes both the sea of the Thassos – Kavala strait (with its wonderful sunsets) and the beauty of the pine-covered mountain, at the foot of which LUNAR is located.
